In January 99, we decided to move the project forward and dedicate enough time to complete it within the year. The goal was to enhance cultural exchanges between mAli and the USA by presenting a video that would encourage people to learn about and eventually visit mAli. Once the content of the video was defined, things moved very quickly: - Mohomodou was responsible for the scriptwriting; - ibA and janet went to mAli during Summer 1999. They established contact with CNPC, a division of the "Ministere de la Culture et du Tourisme", and supervised the shooting. Janet, who stayed in mAli until the video was finished, actively participated in the production and post-production work. Communication over the internet made the overall organizational efforts possible. This was critical  to ensure fast and permanent contact within our group and help complete the video program. - Boubakar, Bakary and Abdoulaye participated in the project planning, fundraising and advertising activities, during the full length of this project.. Our first video, "mAli: An Invitation to Travel", is an introductory documentary presenting the history, economy and culture of mAli; but we plan to produce other videos which will focus on specific aspects of the mAlian society. Our first video, "mAli: An Invitation to Travel", is an introductory document which presents is the first in a series of videos about the history, economy and culture of mAli. This first documentary is an introduction to the mAlian society , while future videos will focus on some specific aspects of the mAlian society.
